Our Environmental Work
In everything we do, we strive to consider the environment in the best possible way. The very fact that our products primarily consist of the natural raw material wood means that our operations have a minimal impact on nature. We use wood from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified forests, meaning forests whose owners set aside a certain part of the forest for natural biotopes. Other raw materials also have a natural origin. For example, the binder in our reeds is still pitch, which has also proven to be the best and most durable material. The varnishes and paints we use are also environmentally friendly.
The electrical energy we use is produced in one of the many hydroelectric power plants we have in Dalarna.
Hand weaving is an ancient craft that gives people peace and satisfaction while creating beautiful things in a way that is good and lasting for nature. A Glimåkra loom is made to last a long time, and both its manufacturing and use are in good harmony with the environment and nature.
Last but not least, our factory is located in a beautiful but sparsely populated area. By remaining and operating in Oxberg and offering employment there, Glimåkra contributes to keeping the community vibrant, which is also part of our environmental work.
